What kind of gasoline are you guys running to get such great mpg’s? Mine averages 28mpg.

Ethanol free 91 octane in my 1.4T
Just regular 87 I think
Shell V-power 91 octane.
Thank you!
What engine you got @Jennifer?
1.4
Manual or auto??
Auto
Turbo? (I think all the 1.4’s are turbo) You’ll definitely want 91+ in the summer months when it’s hotter out – I’m in MN and run it year round. The octane-free adds some mileage as well but not quite enough to pay for itself if you do the math on it, it does offer /some/ additional performance though.
Ahhh I have the eco 6mt
MT will get better mileage than an AT – if you drive it right. And the Ecos are, well, ecos, so they get better mileage anywho.
I average about 28-30 in my 1.4.
Yeah that’s how I get my good mileage
Meth
lol dude deleted his meth comment but my opinion stands lol…

@Andy have you reset your best score? Lol
I’m averaging around 33-34 mpg’s in my ’12 LS 6M…and, I’m currenty running 87 octane QuikTrip gasoline, since it’s a Top Tier rated fuel that’s actually recommended by Chevrolet..
Auto transmission’s tend to receive decreased fuel efficiency compared to a manual transmission. i run regular unleaded in my ’12 1.4 turbo ECO and generally get from 38-43mpg at the moment.
I’m running a 1.4t auto and can consistently pull off 40. The key is to accelerate slowly and coast as much as you can. I used to pass cars in about 5 seconds now it takes me about 20 to pass them driving ultra conservative. It’s annoying sometimes!
I always run 93 octane.
I’m running regular 87 octane too. Too cheap for the higher.
I do want to run 93 octane, eventually, just to see how my car will run with it..
Apparently I got the wrong model. Should’ve got an eco.
I’m running a 1.8l auto and getting 37-43mpg using 93 octane
@Michael Hypermiling will always get you better mileage 😉
Yeah but it’s almost like a lifestyle change! There is almost a level of paranoia while driving! 😀
Also, I drive like there’s an egg between my foot and the gas pedal.
I accelerate quickly to the speed limit then cruise along and I get 31-34 city. Never seen my mileage go below 30. Hwy I get 40-42 which is low do to phoenix freeways. Open highway I get 45-48. I run mostly 89 and sometimes throw a tank of 91 through it.
My car loves this stuff!
$2.88?????
Hell yeah! Shell has a card where you put your cc’s on file and when you use any of those cards at qualifying places you get discounted fuel! I was enjoying $1.05 a gallon that day I believe!
I was just going to say the same thing. In Washington our gas is almost $4 for regular
Wow. 3.45 for regular here. Guess I need a shell card. Haha
Heck yeah you do! Check out my savings last month….
Anyone who wants one of these Shell discount cards just go here and they’ll send ya one! https://www.fuelrewards.com/fuelrewards/welcome.html?RefId=83d5365e8bb344d085e57e20f6b9df23
Nice
Check your spark plugs gap for starters. My MPG has gone up at least 1-2 mpg after regapping my spark plugs. I just run regular 87 octane in my ’12 ECO 6M and getting 38-40 mpg on my daily commute of 73 miles a day.
Most people getting the high MPG’S either hyper mile, live on flat land or are tuned…. but it depends on what year your car is also, as the 2011 1.4 auto’s have a different final gear ratio resulting in lower MPG’S. And if your like me, (and are screwed) the tune helps a little but the hills are the main killer. I only average 32mpgs in my 2011 a/t.
I don’t hyper mile. Not tuned. Live in the valley so I do climb quite a few mountains for work. Intake resonator delete, drop in filter, plugs gapped to .030 and tires set at 40psi. 2013 eco 6m
Key, eco and its at m/t. Lol
I’ve come to the conclusion that people on the board who are getting great numbers live in the country where the roads are 55mph and hardly any stop lights. Their average is usually around 50mph not 70 like the highways around where I live.
^yes and flat roads..
I average right around 29-30mpg and am happy with it. My rental cruze is consistently getting the same mpg as mine so I’ve just come to realize its my driving habits and terrain/roads. I run 93.
I’m around there also with my 11 ltz and driving mostly 70-75mph for 20 min..
I wish I could trade off for a diesel Cruze! Love my ECO…. But the torque and bad ass sound of a diesel is awesome! Like that guy with his “Diesel Betty”!
Kyle, I live in Utah and have plenty of hills! Speed limits here are 65/70 bit I stick to 68 unless no one is around. Then I drop to 65. My commute is pretty free of stop lights. Only hit 8 on my 30 mile commute.
Michael sorry I didn’t read through all the posts. I don’t go out of my way to get good mileage unless I’m going on a long trip. If I have to pass someone i do it and I do it quickly 🙂
My 200 only gets about 22 average on 93 octane so I consider 30 good enough lol
Also my commute to work is only 7 miles so that’s also hurting my numbers!
That’s fair. Stop and go is a killer for mpg scores. :/ my old tiburon was EPA estimated at 24 and I could pull 27 all day every day driving pretty aggressively. This cruze is super needy to get the gas mileage I expected out of the car.
@Michael I find I can city drive and give it pretty good gas and still maintain 30 mpg. 6mt 2lt
36 mpg… regular unleaded (as specified in the manual)
^i can’t find regular gas around… 🙁
87 octane
Lol u Americans. Try paying $5.39 a gallon on average here in Canada n that’s the cheap stuff. I’m just thankful I’m not in Europe. Yikes $9 +
@Robert you should go in Greece.. 9.50$ per gallon…
@Rhonda by regular the brochure means no ethanol.. I had a hard time with my dealership about this.
We have no ethanol choices in my town but I use whatever blend is at my favorite Shell station. I get good mileage on my stop and go ~ granny slow 37 mile commute to work everyday.
These cars are still designed to run on 87 just fine for the average person. GM wouldn’t sell an entry level car that requires premium. Even my 09 Malibu with the 3.6L said to use 87, but 89 was recommended.
Ouch Greece is painful
My car hates 87 and even after going coppers that statement still stands. 93 V Power with V Power plugs set .032. No intakes, down pipes or tunes. As for hypermilling I’ll post a picture of what I got in a 6mt ECO with full trunk driving like “me” up and down PA turnpike.
With shell in Canada v- power is the only 0% ethanol option year round. There’s no doubt that it allows my motor to run great and achieve the best mileage. If there were 87 octane ethanol free gas. I would agree that our engines would be fine 90% off the time with that. It’s just not available to me!
