Gobi!
Following. Leaning towards Prinsu, Change my mind.
Prinsu ?
Get a Frontrunner. Best rack you can get if your gonna use it. Your pretty local to @Josh. He can get you taken care through http://apexoverland.com/
Also does Gobi but that’ll take weeks wherever you get it. Get the front runner it’ll be here in less than a week
Baja Rack! Save some money and put that towards another mod. 2 years and zero rust, leaks or problems
The quality and durability of Prinsu and FrontRunner are what we recommend . Also the look and style .
Msg me if you have any questions .
Depends on what you’re using it for(RTT, carrying gear, collecting light bars and cruising the street)
My top 3
Gobi (the wait sucks)
Frontrunner (2tall for garage)
Echotechne (not American)
I researched racks for 2 months an in the end got in line for the Gobi.
One thing I think we all agree on… the 4R rack is ugly AF!
Were partial to the Pioneer Tray and Backbone system for the 5th Gen 4Runners from @RhinoRack. This system is plug and play, its also Aluminum which means reduced weight and no rusting. I had the Gobi rack and loved it, but it was heavy. The other benifit to the RhinoRack system is the number of accessories that they make for the rack itself.
Scott do you have anymore pictures of this rig?
@Kyle Im on a work computer, but if you go to our FB page BOLD Overland you can see a ton of pics with those racks, if that is what your looking for. We have the same rack on the TRD Pro as well.
?
Who made that front bumper?
@Kyle @Proline. We love them, very functional and strong.
Rhino rack with back bone
Those are beautiful looking. Another great option. That backbone setup Is probably the best looking rack on the market. Very functional as well.
Also, you can get the pioneer tray in several different lengths and widths.
Love our gobi. Order it and you won’t regret it. I have a no rise stealth since I’m not putting a double row light bar up top.
It’s all preference. I think GOBI looks the best. Front Runner probably has the most options. But I think prinsu is the best looking aluminum.
I didn’t like how all other roof racks are only as wide as the roof channels. The gobi taper in a little. I went with the front runner dues to having a wider foot print. Allows me to have more space for “bigger” items. In the summer time I can fit my stand up paddle board, kayak, and canopies on the rack.
Front runner is probably the best application for space, but it has such a large footprint because it’s not designed specifically for the 4Runner. Still a great rack just not a fan of the look.
Form over function, good to know ?
@Rodrigo if you use 100% of your platform, more power to you. GOBI is plenty of space for me.
Rhino Rack. Here is my write-up.

Prinsu doesn’t get too much love around here but it’s a damn good rack. Good looking too.
It also depends on your priorities. Ours were 1. Sun roof cutout, full length, and no drilling required.
Thank you everyone! Fantastic info! I appreciate it so much!
My vote is gobi
Love my Baja. My runner is also a taxi to 3 kids – lots goes up there, not 1 complaint!
If you are in Asheville come get a Front Runner from us! We do installs as well. We’re in Greensboro, NC

Gobi if you’re absolutely not in a rush and don’t mind horrifically bad customer service. Plan on 4-5 months.
My customer experience with GOBI was just fine. They updated me along the way. Was easy for me to contact them when I had questions.
Out of curiosity when was this? I ordered my rack February 2017, no word for 8 weeks. Started emailing once a week asking for any info, nothing. Started calling after 3 months, usually got voicemail that was never returned. When I got someone they were polite but straight up lied, saying my order was being shipped the next day. Eventually shipped 6 weeks after that call, for a total of a 5 month wait.
I ordered October 2017. Had my first update in December.
Received my rack after 20 weeks, 3 of which GOBI was closed for the holiday.
Huh maybe they learned something in the interim.
@Sylvain maybe. They never replied to the online inquiry form, but always answered the phone for me.
I’m really happy with the bajarack that I recently got. Very low profile and no drilling are a huge plus. It wasn’t one I was originally looking at but I got a good deal locally.
Prinsu 7/8. No drilling. They’re cranking em out real fast right now too.
Mine only took 2 weeks.
