Those of you that blacked out your front grille: What sort of prep., if any, did you do to it prior to painting? Thanks.

Well, actually I did have an accident awhile back and they replaced the chrome with chrome. Was wondering if those with the chrome did any light sanding or anything to prepare the surface for the paint.

Just plasti dip it no prep needed

It lasts quite a while, I had it on a winter set of wheels for 3 seasons before I peeled it off. Also been on my interior console since 2010 and now only a small section has started peeling. But yes, it doesn’t last as long as paint but I can remove it and be back to OEM without damage.

I put clear over my blue plasti dip and it turned out great! And like Chris said, if I don’t like it I am not stuck with it!
