So I’m at 187,000 miles now and people are saying I should do a transmission flush. What do you guys think? 4 cyl auto

Drain and fill, don’t do flush
Don’t flush it
X3
What people? Those aren’t good people
@John “mechanics” lmao
Yeah someone else said not to flush it so I figured I’d come here and get the answers for sure. I love this page lol
Is it important to drain and fill it? Or should I just leave it be?
DO NOT FLUSH. Simply drain and fill
What these ppl said already ☝?☝? drain and fill
Agreed drain and fill with Honda ATF only also replace the pop can filter below the battery tray
Okay so now i know not to flush it, but what’s the reason why not?
Ill pm you like usual lol
I’ve heard that the intent is good in that it flushes out contaminants, but the high pressure could weaken seals and such which would cause leaking, and a trans being used on low fluid would certainly be harmful. Just what I’ve heard, but I’m only a very basic DIY person.
No what happens is when the fluid burns it starts holding things together when you flush it, it breaks all that apart basically is a huge risk flushing after it’s burnt
At 190k if its shifting fine theres really no reason to drain and fill. That might create more problems

Accord Have A Service Schedule. At A Certain Amount Of Miles A Transmission Service Is Required. Every 30,000 Miles
@Roberto 30miles huh
You should do a transmission service every 30k
I always let Honda do mine only. With Honda fluid only.
Learned the hard way, flushed and sycros went bad within a month. Probably just a coincidence but meh drain and fill.
If it hasn’t been serviced in years I wouldn’t … if it has a record of consistent fluid changes then you shouldn’t have a problem …
No flush , , just a drain and fill , if anything
Drain and fill. spend the few extra bucks for the Honda brand fluids. I recently replaced my radiator and used the the coolant from Oriellys for the first time ever because it was more convenient, and wow it sucks compared to the $20/gal Honda coolant.
Imo Honda ATF sucks and is far too thin. Say what you want but I been using Valvoline ATF (blue bottle) with Lucas additive for 4 years and my transmission shifts smoother and better than it ever did running Honda ATF and I literally shift 1-drive daily and it’s held up fine.
Mine is running 28,000 miles and it’s 12 years old now, do I need to change the ATF?
If you wanna do a “flush” do 3-4 drain and fills, with a few miles of driving between each one to cycle the new fluid in with what doesn’t get drained out initially.
