It’s 9 from E to F but there are a few gallons past E, from a personal experience

MattQuestion author

@Tyler thanks for the heads up

0
Tyler

@Matt yeah I try not to push it past the E mark but I’ve had to a few times

City driving?

0
MattQuestion author

Yeah all city driving

0
Jim

No turbo/supercharger?

0
MattQuestion author

@Jim no boost. I have a gutted cat, no muffler or resonators which isn’t going to help but not gonna hurt me 10mpg worth

0
Jim

City driving is gunna hurt a lot. How fresh are the plugs and wires, air filter. What tire pressure?

0
MattQuestion author

@Jim Plugs, wires were changed this year. Air filter hasn’t been changed since I’ve had it. Tire pressure at 30.

0
Liam

Definitely change your air filter. I was getting mileage like you (all city driving) but I gained a solid extra 20-30 miles a tank I’ve noticed. could be other factors too though. not sure! now I usually get 220-250 miles per tank in a 1999 1.8

Rusty

I have a 1.8 95 and get over 300 miles on a full tank

Okay so, 92 1.6 avg 20 mpg like 180 miles on 9-10 gallons. No boost. Gutted cat, no muffler no resonators. Idles a high. 1500-2000. (Any help on the idling would be great too) ???

Pro tip: MPGs are more useful than “how much out of a tank”. The tank is 11-13 gallons (with judicious rounding), and I bet most people don’t run through more than 9 or 10 before filling. 😛

Right on but I wasn’t sure if everyone was getting 9 gallons like I was, which is why I asked

1
Aaron

What?? I can only fit like 9 in my tank I have a 97

Jim

You gotta run it down some more. 12.7 gallon tank

0
Aaron

One time I get kept filling it and I got to like 10. Something but like it was literally about to over flow

0
Ian

Your needle will generally go 2 to 2.5 widths BELOW the empty line. Fill a 2 gallon gas can and keep it with you and drive until the car dies. I thought that’s something everyone did when they bought a new car… 😛

0
Aaron

Ohhhhhhh okay yeah because mine goes past the full line like a couple notches

0
Adam

I always calculate input vs output lol… probably withing .1 gallon because I fill it FULL lol

Why 13b swap?

0
Brendan

Because it’s rad. I’d do a v8 or a turbo setup but everyone does it.

@Jim mostly city. I get about 200mi to each tank (about 9ish gallons)

0
Jim

I’m almost all country and get 300 on my 1.8 and 280 on my 1.6

0
Jim

1.8 tank is 12.9 and the 1.6 is 11.9

0
