Use a high quality synthetic oil in it that exceeds dexos2 specs and make sure your dealer doesn’t overfill it and the emissions control crap should be good to go. The transmission is made by Aisin and has been about flawless, the engine is very reliable, and the car overall doesn’t have any major problems.
The only problems anyone ever reports are related to the missions crap, like DEF sensor and etc.
Who makes the engine trans ?
It’s an Opel engine and as I said above, it’s an Aisin transmission. AF40.
Sweet appreciate info. Huge VW fan but can’t pass up deal. They will never have a good fix for VW either!
Emissions problems are quite frequent. I like mine, but it only has 13k mi on it and already had 2 emissions related check engine lights and the emissions recall. Just be prepared to need your patience, and you will love the car.
Are you driving a lot of miles ? Highway or all city?
Mixed driving. Always get it out on the highway though.

I bought mine on March 16. I drive 68 miles one way to work doing 62mph for 1 hour and 10 minutes of my 1:25 drive. It had 22,220 miles on it then, now its going to hit 50,000 by Friday.
It went in for 1 emission related CEL in May. The 3rd EGT sensor went kaput. While removing the sensor, the tech stripped the threads. This is the one near the SCR catalyst. So they ordered a whole new one. Got it back 35 days after it was stripped. Then another CEL popped one for EGT. This time I hooked up my OBD2 wireless to my iphone and used DashCommand to read the code. That tank I drove it HARD. Those 15 minutes I’m not driving 62mph? In Chicago suburb traffic. Floored every time. Must have cleaned the sensor as the CEL turn off after a week and the permanent CEL category fell off after a month.
Now at the start of the new year, ill be starting a job 1/2 mile away. Ill be deleting my car and possibly pushing its limits
Have a 2015. 45000 and have had zero problem. Love the car.
I have a 2014, 62kmi, never had an issue. Love the car, 50mpg hwy and I get 40ish back and forth to work and around town. Been trifecta tuned since around 20kmi. Ran amsoil since my 4 free dealer oil changes where up.
