Das what it is mang.
Are they repairable or do you have to replace them
I don’t know if the video is pinned here anymore but there is a repair for it but most people I know just replace it.

Ok thanks ?
You’re welcome!
Remove, disassemble, clean and sandblast interior of piston (tape exterior to avoid damage), sandblast exterior of worm gear, get a 8mm bolt and thread through where oil bolt is, reassemble. Put in motor, bolt up, remove the 8mm and replace the oil bolt. Finishing buttoning it up. There’s a thread on S2Ki for it, sounds complex but it’s not, and you don’t need to remove airbox like they suggest. Just did it for the second time last week.
Ok thanks. Do you have to peg the chain to hold it tight or just remove the tensioner?
Just remove the tensioner off the side. Helped me to unplug the VTEC solenoid just to get that connector out of the way for the wrench. The first time I did it, was about 120k miles. Got 45k +/- out of just wiping off the worm gear. Sandblasting, we’ll see how far it gets. Beats buying a replacement, be it aftermarket or OEM.
I don’t have a sandblasted so maybe compressed air?
Best to blast it to rough up the surfaces & increase the grip of the two parts. Check if your friends have one, otherwise hit up a body shop and see if they’d do it for you real quick. Takes maybe 5 minutes total, and it’s recommended to use 70-90 grit. Otherwise, yes, just wiping stuff clean will do for the time being
Ok will see what i can do
Make sure the bolt you get for re assembly is at least 2-3″ long
If you have a worn tensioner you can hear it slightly at idle it’s easy to replace, it has a grenade pin so you won’t really be able to put one in that has already been installed
Incorrect you twist/compress the piston and screw a bolt in the ass end to keep in place during re install
Ok I got you when I took mine out it just looked like a bitch to do
Wear gloves or youre gonna have some blisters since its so slippery but you can get the piston down enough to pop her back in as long as you have a long enough bolt and a wingnut
After sanding of course
Tried this today and the noise is still there … sounds more over then inlet camshaft
Heat sheild rattle?
Full aftermarket pipe
