It’s weird I drove it around for quite awhile the other day I didn’t realize my fans weren’t working without ac it started to heat up so I parked it later when I try ed with fans running it still went up but as I was driving I turned ac off and the temp gauge went down to normal??

Both fan should be turn on when the AC is on. When you see the gauge go up try with careful touch the radiator upper and lower hoses to see if both are hot, if the bottom one is cooler and if it is, that mean the thermostat not opening

Ye both fans turn on with the ac but shouldn’t they run without ac? It went up without the fans on the other day but then it don’t take but a few mins to go up with fans on and then soon as I shut ac off and they stop running the Guage goes down

What about running idle with fans running temp gauge at normal should the upper hose be noticeably hotter then the bottom?

Chris

Yes that’s normal as long as it’s not cold but I’d still replace the thermostat period

And soon as I turned ac back on the temp gauge started rising

I took a f22b dohc thermostat from a parts car into a f22b sohc vtec in an accord so you might be able to do the same and vice versa

Could also be the fan switch which is located on the thermostat housing. If your car is idling (AC turned off), it will take a while for it to warm up. One fan will eventually turn on. If it does not turn on you can test it with a jumper wire to the fan switch plug. PM me of you need help.
