Can you not turbo the beams?

Yes you can. However it is higher compression. Not a bad thing but it is much more fragile in the tuning stages than a low comp motor would be

Ive heard that the beams is nasty turbo’d. I would personally love a beams swap in my mk1. Its unique and stock its pretty close to the same power as the gte.

Im still trying to decide what swap to put in my 91 too. beams, v6, and turbo are all great. i Might go with a second gen gte because it seems to be the least expensive route.

If I were. To do it again, I’d get a v6

If i were to do a gte I’d go 3rd gen, I’m just thinking the beams would be pretty cool

Beams in its stock form is roughly as fast as a the stock turbo engine it replaced.
.it’s really not all that fast.
I imagine with a little bit of forced induction and a hundred more horses, it would be perfect.

Something to consider is that beams parts are expensive and not readily available.

If you want n/a, do a V6 swap. It’ll cost less to do, less to fix, less to improve, and make more HP and much more torque. If you want boost, do a turbo swap. As much as I like the Beams, it is largely irrelevant now. Still, if you do it, make some videos. 😉

I love my beams swap. Just wish it had more power

If you want to lower compression, you can swap pistons from the 3sgte 🙂

I’m pretty set of V6 for the future but every time I hear beams I think of Mandalay’s centrifugal supercharged beams… I wish there were videos of it.
