Looking to do the same looking at doing the avh-x420 bs pioneer…. had questions about if I could plug the factory microphone and such
I know Sony makes new app radio
.
pioneer 6100 nex the kit is pac audio
Factory Sirius antenna plug in and does factory mic for call plug in as well ?
no it comes with its own mic…but i just took the plate off the ceiling and swapped them out. super simple. no stock sirius connection doesnt work you have to get the kit from bestbuy
Got a link to the antenna? Thanks for your input… saving me a crapload of time .. I just don’t want to take it apart and find out I don’t have everything to complete it
well some radios come with the xm antenna included. find the radio you want and if it doesnt come with the antenna itll tell you what to buy.
On the mic swap… do you have to run the whole wire back to the radio or is there something easier..
No…you don’t have to put the Mic back in the stock. I just did that for my Sanity sake. You can put the Mic anywhere you want as long as people can hear you talking
Might have made a boo boo…. what was the depth on your player…. just realized the pioneer I bought says 11″… doesn’t look like there is that much room
11 inches?? I’ve never seen any radio that deep. I’d double check your info. Mine is about 7 deep
He I looked up specs elsewhere… the first place I looked on amazon said 11″ … I just about shit when I saw that.. and found out after researching that it is around 7…… I still can find the antenna that plugs in to the back of the pioneer … suggestions
What radio is it
@Bryant.. got everythin installed .. one small problem.. steering wheel button wont work .. i have a pioneer avh x490 bs.. i got the pac wiring … the steering wheel wire plug goes to plug in just left of the mic correct? i have my button on the module123 are down …. dont know what it could be
@Bradley you bought the pac full kit?
Came with bezel and all the wiring
did you solder your connections? double checked them so nothings crossed?
Just 2 wires for steering controls ? A black with plug in and a blue and yellow wire that there was nothing to plug it in to on pioneer side… all the was was a blue and white
https://assets.sonicelectronix.com/manuals/pac/rpk4-fd2201.pdf
did you go by this manual? i had no trouble with mine. only thing that wasnt exactly like stock was the voice activation button…you have to hold it for a few seconds and it will bring up siri or google help which ever phone you have.
Did you have to program it?
no i didnt have to…i would go pull my dash to see the connections but im at work. it has something to do with that blue and yellow wire. message me pics of your wire harnesses and how you have them connected
also double check you have the module connected to the right port on the rear of the radio. there are two ports on the back that are basically the same but one is for aux. double check which is which in your radio manual.
Plugged in to the one beside the mic where it suppose to be ….I have a stock plug that is left over from stock radio… (the smaller one)
heading to work now but………..I noticed I wired a red/white wire….in the manual it says that’s a 12v+ programmable output….with that being hooked up would that automatically not let me use the stock function for steering wheel ?
when i get off work ill pop my dash open and snap some pics for you
I know the dash kit is 300 but don’t know if it comes with necessary parts for factory camera and steering wheel buttons or if radio does
What all that cost u
radio was a gift so that was free but it goes for like 500-600…and the kit was 300 includes all connections for wheel and a bluetooth mic. all plug and play
Does backup camera work still on it
yes and the 4 buttons under the stock radio get remapped so you can push the button and it automatically brings up the camera even if youre not in reverse. and up to 10mph when driving
That’s cool
The PAC kit is suppose to come with everything but the radio
i forgot to mention the pac kit only works for the 4″ display swaps
4″ so u mean I can only do a 4″ upgrades screen
i mean if your truck came with a factory 8″ touch screen you cant use the pac kit to go aftermarket
If you have 4″ screen to upgrade to big screen
I have that small ass screen
yea it allows you to get rid of the shitty 4″ stock screen and go bigger and better with a larger aftermarket radio like i did
K cool thanks
How big of a screen will dash kit hold 7″?
yea i believe its 7. my screen is a 6.5 but it has the side buttons so the whole radio is 7
those sony app radios have no buttons so its a solid 7″ screen
Ya true
Anybody looking to change the OEM radio for the purpose of adding amps and new speakers/subs should definitely look into the JL Audio FiX86. I’ve got a ’17 Screw with the 8″ screen and just didn’t like any of the aftermarket dash kits that were available but wanted to upgrade the stereo so I went with the FiX86…and it does a fantastic job! Not only is it about the price of a dash kit ($380 on JL’s website) but along with their software, give you EQ, crossover adjustment and time alignment. Setup is super easy, you don’t lose any of the OEM functionality since you’re not changing the radio, and after years in the car audio business, I’d be hard pressed to say that any aftermarket head unit (short of the super high end SQ stuff, think Pioneer PRS or Alpine F#1Status) will sound better than what this processor does.
Pics of radio u have
Just the OEM 8″ with factory Nav.
JL 1000/5v2
The FiX processor
3 8w3v3 the single is leftover from a previous vehicle and is eventually going in my moms Camaro lol
JL C5 components. Plan on dynamatting the whole door eventually.
JL C5 tweeters in OEM location
More JL badges denoting the “JL Edition” lol
What the jl stuff cost
@Kassie all said and done (wiring, adapter plates for the front mids, misc. install parts) I’m into it for about $2500. I think retail it’d be a little over $3k but my old boss at the shop I used to work for hooked me up really well. I know I sound like a JL fanboy (and I am lol) but I’ve had a lot of experience with a lot of different brands and IMO there’s not much better out there when you consider all factors i.e. sound quality, durability, price point, etc. I mean sure, there’s definitely better stuff out there (Focal Utopia Be components come to mind, but we’re talking $2k-$5k just for front speakers) but in my experience, there’s not much that beats JL value-wise. That single 8″ box is from 2010 when I had it in my ’09 Ranger single cab and it still sounds as good and hits as nice as it did 7 years ago when it was new…and I don’t baby my equipment either…that’s not to say I abuse it but I definitely push its limits lol!
What I jokingly refer to as the JL Audio Edition F150 lol
