I am looking at getting a Crosstrek. I was wondering which one is best to get with what options?

Get limited
Premium
I love my premium. Didn’t care about a sun roof and all leather in the limited. However, I would recommend the eyesight tech
The premium does add many great features over the base model for a modest price increase. A manual in either trim wouldn’t have eyesight, which I find to be quite good, so something to keep in mind. The limited does add interesting features (steering responsive headlights, larger screen, 18in wheels, leather seats) but for a more significant price increase. I have a premium and really, really like it. It’s a comfortable vehicle with just the right amount of features. Hope that helps, and feel free to ask any other questions!
@Riley did they start making the limited in a manual?
@Whitney I don’t believe so. I think the manual only comes on the base model and the premium, not the limited. Sorry if my phrasing above wasn’t clear.
Base model 6mt ??♂️
Limited…comes with everything you want and more. You will love all the safety features.
Premium! Just enough features without going crazy, best bang for your buck. Mine came with sunroof which I enjoy more than i thought i would and the seats have the orange stitching ?
Personal preference really. I have a premium with the cvt, sunroof and no eyesight. I drive for a living and am used to being in complete control of my ride so it drove me crazy on the test drive. My next one will probably have it though yo potentially help with resale. I prefer cloth seats over leather especially in the summer.
Limited! It’s the only one that offers sat-nav as option.
Why is sat-nav so important when so many use Apple CarPlay and Android Auto?
CP/AA nav only works if you have a cell signal. If you’re in a dead zone (can’t make a phone call) using either one, you likely won’t have navigation. Yes, I’m aware that you can download AA maps ahead of time to work around that problem (not possible with CP unless you also have Google maps), but it’s a hassle and won’t work if by accident you find yourself in a dead zone.
Typical dead zone areas: very rural areas, mountains and valleys, cities with tall buildings that can block signals (happened to me in Wilmington, DE). I live in a beach community in Maryland—and we have terrible cell coverage with dead zones in parts of the community. This is a community with a population of 12K!
Lack of a cell signal does not affect sat-nav. You will always have navigation (except if you’re in a tunnel or a parking garage).
Most people don’t know this, which is why I bring it up. Again, this is only available on the Limited as part of an option package.
@Bob exactly why I got my limited. I live in Maine and often find myself in back roads with no coverage. I wanted the sat nav just in case.
@Rick , yes, it’s a perfect “Plan B” for when you’re in very remote areas that you’re not familiar with. In those situations it really can become a safety issue.
We ran into that situation while traveling through Vermont and New Hampshire on vacation once. Cell-nav was very spotty, especially so in the less populated areas.
@Bob google maps downloads maps when you’re on WiFi so if you lose cell coverage it relies on the downloaded map data off your phone so you’re never really stranded
@Jonathan, I know, but you have to do that ahead of time, before you’re in a dead zone. You can’t do it when you’re already in a dead zone, correct? Plus, those using CarPlay, not everyone has a Google maps on their phone.
Here, if you touch a phone while on a public road, unless you are in Park, on a shoulder, that’s “Distracted Driving” ($650 fine) +3 demerits + insurance consequences. Police work in pairs – riding buses etc. to see down into vehicles and radio their partner to pull the car over. Never pull anyone over for using on-board GPS.
The interior of the limited is a much better place to be and the headlights are fantastic.
Limited. Base model anything from Subaru is crap.
Get a manual. Options are overrated anyhow.
It all depends on your budget, and expectations. I wanted Eyesight, so I opted for the Premium. I couldn’t see the value vs.cost of the Limited, and wasn’t ready to spend over $30K.
Get the Limited. Eyesight can be turned off if it bothers you. The lane keep feature is not my cup of tea but if I still had younger drivers in the can I could see it as a plus.
I’m leasing a 2020 Crosstrek Premium with all the safety features.
