Hasn’t broken any of my vehicles though I can say proper fuel and warmup procedures ‘probably’ do a better job. But I’ve been dropping a bottle every oil change for nearly a decade on every car I’ve owned and I won’t be stopping.
@Bryce I always let my cam warm up from every cold start. The jam referring is for the fuel tank. U use it on every oil change or is there one for oil specifically?
My ’92 V6 is having issues. I put in injector cleaner, & it cleared up, then came back. That was after replacing plugs/wires. It’s as if it runs on 5, sometimes 4 cylinders. Certain speeds it shudders bad. I’m hoping STP clears it up, but it’s been about 250 miles and still bad. Praying doesn’t seem to be helping it to start working right again. lol
@Marty Yes. It started doing it before the wires & plugs, and after. I put in cleaner, & 100 kms later it was working on all 6 and back to smooth. After a couple weeks, its back to running poor. I saw a thread on a forum with the same issue, but the answer was removed.
@Marty OK. sounds like sound advise. A serious pain… but something to look at. I thought a filter would idle fine, and break down under a load. This is rougher at idle, than when accelerating.
@Bradford My son has a Buell motorcycle doing the same thing. We yanked the fuel pump and the sock was black with gunk, the filter is likely clogged. It would run for 3 seconds, then die due to lack of fuel.
@Jr Normally before a fill up but let your gas run down to like 1/4 tank then out lucas in before fill up like that it mixes with new gas thats how i do it anyways
@Jr Every fill up is abit over kill i’ll recommend every oil change but thats just me, If your not happy with your gas milage you can always get new injectors/plug/couls depend what year is your camry
I use Lucas both oil and gas every so often . You need only the fuel injector cleaner about once every two months same for the oil stabilizer. Btw go ahead and go full synthetic motor oil trust me it’s better than conventional oil
I make oil for a living. Synthetic oil uses better ingredients. High mileage however is a waste of money though. It is different from Standard Oil but it is a small difference for a large price.
Yes. A 5w 30 is a 5w 30. Synthetic is just a higher-quality 5w 30. Sink Little Caesar’s pepperoni pizza vs Gourmet Pizza Place pepperoni pizza. They’re both pepperoni pizzas but one is much better than the other
@Evan – I’ve used Techron for over 35 years in all of my cars and never ever had any problems with fuel injectors or engine knocking. I usually keep cars for 7-10 years before “flipping” them and they’ve always been considered “cream puffs” with over a 150k miles.
Except you have to be careful putting that stuff in the gas tank because it’s well known if you have an external fuel filter it will clog fast because Seafoam will loosen up crud on the bottom of the fuel tank that hardens over time.
@Nathan I suppose that is true. But why would I want to leave the sediment in my tank. I’m not trying to be sarcastic but a “ clean” fuel system kind of starts at the tank.
Lucas Fuel Injection Cleaner, depending on how I handle the fuel tank in the winter I may throw in a bottle of HEET if I let it get too low. If I feel I need some slightly extra deep cleaning Marvels Mystery oil in the gas tank and engine.
I’m in the oil and gas business and I can tell you there are so many additives nowadays in refined gasoline that cleaners aren’t really necessary in today’s vehicles.
I know that the Model ‘T’ Club suggests using Marvel Mystery Oil in the fuel, 4 oz per gallon, when they go on a tour. Also, the B-17 ‘Sentimental Journey’ uses it by the gallon in their AvGas. A few years ago, I was speaking with the Colling’s Foundation people who fly their B-17 & B-24, as well as others, & they seemed to think that Marvel Mystery Oil was a good thing to put in the fuel. I’ve used it for years on my older VW’s. Granted, all these engines are either old or air cooled, or both. I have used it on my 2001 Camry since it was brand new, & no problems. It lubes the top end, as well as the guides. It’s been around since 1923, & besides, I like it.
I use Lucas
@Rick yeah the told me about that brand I brought 2 from autozone haven’t used them yet just wanted to see others experience and knowledge of it
Lucas hands down one of the VERY few aftermarket products I will actually promote for car care.

@Bryce I always let my cam warm up from every cold start. The jam referring is for the fuel tank. U use it on every oil change or is there one for oil specifically?
Nope, no special variants I just always add some Lucas injector cleaner in my fuel system on the same interval as my oil changes.
@Bryce oh ok cool what year is your cam?
I’ve used stp Lucas and marvel all work fine on my 98 2.2 Camry

Did you use OEM wires and plugs? Some of the parts house wire sets have issues.
@Marty Yes. It started doing it before the wires & plugs, and after. I put in cleaner, & 100 kms later it was working on all 6 and back to smooth. After a couple weeks, its back to running poor. I saw a thread on a forum with the same issue, but the answer was removed.
@Bradford You might want to pull your fuel pump and look at the sock and filter.
@Marty OK. sounds like sound advise.
@Marty Being a ’92, it likely is fairly dirty.
I use lucas every oil change
@Yandy the bottle say before a fill up or after…. which one u referring 2?
@Jr Normally before a fill up but let your gas run down to like 1/4 tank then out lucas in before fill up like that it mixes with new gas thats how i do it anyways
@Yandy ok. And is it good to do it on EVERY fill up or just on oil changes?
@Jr Every fill up is abit over kill i’ll recommend every oil change but thats just me, If your not happy with your gas milage you can always get new injectors/plug/couls depend what year is your camry
@Jr Also another tip its abit more expensive but well worth it is running NON ETHONAL gas, It 100% Gasoline and burns cleaner in your cylinders
@Yandy oh I never heard of that before. What year is your cam?
@Jr I have a 2013
I use Lucas both oil and gas every so often . You need only the fuel injector cleaner about once every two months same for the oil stabilizer. Btw go ahead and go full synthetic motor oil trust me it’s better than conventional oil
@Cameron I use synthetic on my 2014 that’s the recommendation for it.
I make oil for a living. Synthetic oil uses better ingredients. High mileage however is a waste of money though. It is different from Standard Oil but it is a small difference for a large price.
@Ben so u recommend synthetic oil on high mileage vehicles?
Yes. A 5w 30 is a 5w 30. Synthetic is just a higher-quality 5w 30. Sink Little Caesar’s pepperoni pizza vs Gourmet Pizza Place pepperoni pizza. They’re both pepperoni pizzas but one is much better than the other
@Ben lil caesar pepperoni pizza taste delicious when its served hot ??
Lol. I also like it. But I can get a much much better Pizza in Indianapolis to Little Caesars. It’s not a perfect analogy LOL
I have a 2010 Camry LE, what a good Full Synthetic to use at 103,000 miles?
Any of them will do. Your mobile one or like your Chevron is going to use slightly higher quality ingredients but you’ll be good with any
Techron
@Evan – I’ve used Techron for over 35 years in all of my cars and never ever had any problems with fuel injectors or engine knocking. I usually keep cars for 7-10 years before “flipping” them and they’ve always been considered “cream puffs” with over a 150k miles.
I use either ZMax or Lucas Oil fuel system cleaner. I’ve also used a 3M kit to clean the air intake, throttle body, etc. as well.
I use Lucas and gumout with PEA also run top tier gas.
I go with Dealer recommendations only.
@Tom which is?
@Jr what they recommend. I trust my Dealer.
@Tom what brand do they recomend dude
Gumout or Seafoam are pretty good
@Rey I’ll second Seafoam, stock injectors in my Cummins and 407000 on the clock. Good stuff!
I use sea foam once a year. If they are selling the same product after all these years, they must be doing something right
Except you have to be careful putting that stuff in the gas tank because it’s well known if you have an external fuel filter it will clog fast because Seafoam will loosen up crud on the bottom of the fuel tank that hardens over time.
@Nathan I suppose that is true. But why would I want to leave the sediment in my tank. I’m not trying to be sarcastic but a “ clean” fuel system kind of starts at the tank.
Because most newer cars do not have an inline filter anymore that’s why.
@Nathan which brand do you use?
Lucas Fuel Injection Cleaner, depending on how I handle the fuel tank in the winter I may throw in a bottle of HEET if I let it get too low. If I feel I need some slightly extra deep cleaning Marvels Mystery oil in the gas tank and engine.
I put seafoam in mine. It added 40 hp and the sticker that says 0-60 EVENTUALLY added an additional 10 hp.
Seafoam Deep @Matthew…
Lucas works but look into BG 44K it’s really good
ALL DAY TECHRON
Never put it on mine. Read the question
In over 30 yrs of owning/driving/repairing vehicles with fuel injectors, I’ve never had a reason to use any fuel system additive.
I’m in the oil and gas business and I can tell you there are so many additives nowadays in refined gasoline that cleaners aren’t really necessary in today’s vehicles.
Today’s vehicles as in from 2010 and up?
