If u look at the valve cover.. The writing on the 1.6 is sunken in and the 1.8’s writing is bold

If u feel ur nipple and feel at the valve cover simultaneously it will send a signal from your nipple u are touching over to your other nipple and tell it whether it’s a 1.6 or 1.8

No passenger air bag in a 1.6 ; 1.6 doesn’t have a Mazda badge on the front bumper but says the word Mazda beneath the driver turn signal.

Some 1.6s don’t have a trunk release inside, not sure if all are like that or not.

Ah, wasn’t aware, I’ve owned a handful of NAs (6s and 8s) and it’s just always been that way. Thanks for the info!

1.6 short/ smaller engine, 1.8 longer engine .. not unless previous owner was nice to swap in a 1.8 for you and still using 1.6 parts

Not really sure what more you need… there’s not gonna be a giant hidden 1.8 or 1.6 stamp on the motor. Stamp on valve cover is recessed on na6’s, raised on na8’s, and recessed again on nb’s. Then na6’s have a coilpack on exhaust side, na8 coilpack on intake side. Also na8 intakes go above the radiator hose.
