Go to Home Depot. Get some air duct and some couplings. Go to autozone and get a cheap filter. Done.
But I feel like I should build a box
You need something around it to keep the intake from getting all the hot engine heat…….. unless you are into hot air intakes lol
Plus I need mass airflow sensor pipe
On my 2012 I deleted the air baffles, put a drop in k and n filter and the removed the box thing that was below the air filter box

Deleted the 1 air baffle. 2012 1.5gen
Removed the box down below but left the tube. Sucks air from fender and behind headlight

I have my filter going down on my 2.5L
You know you can suck water in
There’s more engineering than you think in an intake. It’s probably a good idea to just wait until you can afford the real deal
