Word of advice…while it is possible to pull from the top…..it would be easier and far faster dropping it from the bottom….
Seperate the engine from the trans then pull out each one by themselves.
Can’t remove it without lowering subframe
Yes you can
It’s a lot more difficult but it can be done.
Is the steering rack un done
Doesnt need to be
No
They can come out together. Just undo everything and get the fuse box out and it will come out at an angle
If I drop subframe would I have to remove the compressor ?
You have to remove it from the engine unless you plan on releasing the freon
If he’s removing the engine though
Are talking about those bolts to leave it in ?
Just remove the freon and recharge after, I changed 2 engines from the top before I scrapped mine
I don’t want to drop the rack.
It can come out the top. Have to pull motor and trans in one piece
Decided to drop subframe
Calling it a night.
I pulled the 2.2 out of the top. Left the trans in place. There is room to lift it out from the top. 2008 Cobalt LS
That’s what this is
It was easy on my lsj. Removed the radiator, sc, intake mani, crank bolt, and fuse box. Everything else is just like pulling any other engine. You will need a load leveler because it needs to come out at an angle. I would advise pulling it with the trans attached.
my 17 year old little brother did it in our driveway. you’ll be alright
