I shall help you!
That’s a lot of work to do in a weekend. Do you have pneumatic tools?
Yes
Make sure you have all 3 components for the clutch (Pressure plate, Clutch disc & release bearing) also get a spigot bearing & have the flywheel machined ( a clutch locating tool can also be very helpful to line the plate up under the cover). Make sure to clean everything well & bleed the brake fluid through the hydraulic system with new fluid until it runs clean (check for any leaks). Then take it out & bed it in properly before giving it heaps 🙂
I pulled the engine out it about a days worth. Out of my parts car.
I have all the parts and have a new fw freshly machined so I’m good there. Thanks for letting me know on the bleeding part.
One little trick I do is clean the flywheel surface down with brake & parts cleaner just before mounting the new kit to it to remove all impurities & any oil sprayed on it to prevent corrosion
Replace slave cylinder
Is that necessary?
Not really & it can be done fairly easily later on
Don’t pull the motor. Leave the top mount. Undo the clutch mounts. No need to rebleed that way.
How hard is it to get to the bell housing bolts?
As long as the fluid is replaced every 2 years it should not fail very quickly, most failures occur due to lack of servicing & the hydraulic fluid is left in the system for many years. Brake fluid can take on water & this causes corrosion in the slave & kills the seals as a result
Y do it later when it can be done same time mine leaked after everything was together
Have your flywheel turned by a machine shop. Once on, brace it so that it doesn’t turn while torque is applied to it and to pressure plate. The hardest thing will be keeping the crank from turning..
