@Zayne to many variations to just throw premium fuel at it…. what’s the comparison, boost, intake/exhaust timing, spark timing, is it stroked ect ect ect. Use what its tuned for…
I asked several service techs about it and they said it doesn’t need it. I’ve ran several different octane’s through my car and didn’t notice much diff other than it ran quite on premium. Mileage wasn’t much diff. In theory cars that have forced induction should run on premium. The 1.4t just may not be built for that.
@Craig ur wrong 93 octane gives me a little bit faster pickup better response little bit more fuel mileage if you keep your foot out of it there is a benefits to it and the car is not 75 horse it’s 140 horse Factory with the turbo plus I got K&N filter and 35 horse chip I do get better fuel mileage by keeping my foot out of it
James Defelice better gas mileage maybe but that’s it. The whole car is just a bad design. Under powered. Manual gearbox feels like a toy and gear ratios are all wrong for the under powered motor. Just my two cents
Craig Pavlosky Go get A K&N filter you get a tune not a chip it will give you 60 horse more you’ll get go from 38 on the Highway to 48 on the highway and drive like Grandma or a teenager you’ll still get the same mileage every time guaranteed you probably get close to 700 miles a tank
I still think its funny people think because its 92 “premium” means it’s better fuel. No. Not at all. It’s all about octane. Example. My camaro is 10:5.1 compression. Needs 91 octane to run (I also put 110 race gas in). Wouldnt even run on 87.
Our cars are 8:5.1 compression ratio. No need for 91 octane. Wasting money at that point.
93 is always the best option as far as gas goes. Regardless if its recommended or not. People will argue it but its been proven over and over that 93 is better than 89. The only gas bad for any car is gas that has water in it or you put a lower octane rating than recommended. So everyone saying u haven’t had issues. You’re not going too because you’re putting Whats recommended but your motor is ticking and 89 is the reason.
Always use premium in turbo cars
@Zayne not always….
It should be always. Low octane fuel will make your engine vibrate and make the knock sensors take allot of timing of and it will run like shit
@Cody always
@Zayne I know of a few 500+hp cars that run on 87…
@Cody dont care. Higher octane decreases knock. More potential for power
@Zayne to many variations to just throw premium fuel at it…. what’s the comparison, boost, intake/exhaust timing, spark timing, is it stroked ect ect ect. Use what its tuned for…
@Zayne 100% correct.
Yes, lack off power, especially if you have a/c on,
@Cley it’s a 1.4t.. it’s built to have lack of power
@Sam true, but premium fuel helps it perform much better, been using 93 octane for over 120k milles, no major issues at all
Yes
No
My sonic does that I’m tuned for 94 went on a trip where they only had 87,89,91 ran like shit even on 91
@Luc you should grab a can of this to keep in your trunk.
http://race-gas.com/
One 32 ounce bottle can boost 16 gallons of 91 octane to 95
@Justin shit eh
Mine runs great no matter what octane is in it!! Octane numbers are one of the biggest scams!! Coming from family that’s worked in the industry
Shawn as person that works in automotive performance and tunes cars: “you’re fucking stupid”
@Shawn you’re a whole dumbass
It’s a turbo 1.4 you should only be running premium period … article below.

I put premium in everything I’ve every owned, no matter how shitty. You get what you pay for
Might as well put Walmart brand oil in every oil change.
I was but that shit burn too fast
140k miles of 87…no issues, ever.
@Jason all i ever ran on all my vehicles never had an issue.
Yes
Never seen any benefit to regular gas in this car. It’s always ran it’s best on premium fuel or non ethanol.
I love these.
The Cruze 1.4 motor is an absolute tird ?. 87,89,93 octane doesn’t matter. No performance benefits. Just wasting a $ on a 75hp car……??♂️

@James i doubt it does any of that.. it’ll probably reduce some knock but not a lot of performance gains from using 93 in a cruze…
87 and supertec oil for 120,000 miles. Barely keep her on the road if the ac is off
I put 87 in. Mine still runs like a champ. But my cruze doesn’t care about much. He just keeps on keeping on.

@Cory it’s a cruze page, they don’t even understand how compression ratio works
The 1.4T is tuned from the factory to take advantage of premium fuel, it’s not a debate, bad news racing has shown the timing tables.
Low octane map shown in this picture.
High octane timing map
I run 89 in my 12′. 87 makes it run like shit but between 89 and 93 I haven’t noticed any difference… Besides price

If it has the turbo. It should only run premium. I only run the Exxon supreme
i run 87 with no problems and have since new now 20 k
