Not sure what the specs are for a 2007. The 2011-14 can pull 2000lbs max. with an add-on hitch.

4000lbs if you put the right hitch on

That’s over the official rating. My 14 has the 3.5L with the factory tow package which is rated at 3500lbs. Doesn’t matter if you put a 5000lbs rated hitch on the Edge, you’ll be considerably over weight.

3500 is max I think. And that’s with a towing package. Otherwise it’s like 1500-2000 I think.

11-14 models with the V6 3.5 L and no factory tow package are 2000lbs Max. The 3.7L Sport models are also limited to 2000lbs. Only the 11-14 with 3.5L V6 and Factory Tow pack can be rated at 3500lbs.

It might work if you only plan to tow on fairly level roads. Going up steep inclines, I wouldn’t do it in my MKX.

Max load ratings are under ideal conditions. So being 70-80% or under of Max towing is a common sense move. Better to be under than over.

2007-10
MAXIMUM LOADED TRAILER WEIGHT (lbs.)
Class I 2000
Class II 3500
Maximum weights shown are for properly equipped vehicles with
required equipment and a 150-lb. driver. Weight of additional options,
equipment, passengers and cargo must be deducted from this weight.
For additional information, see your Ford Dealer.

Class II Trailer Tow Package: hitch receiver, engine oil cooler, larger radiator,
upgraded cooling fans, upgraded battery (2007 only; 68 amp) and wiring harness with
4-pin connector (3500 lbs. max.)

2011-14 added Trailer Sway Control.
Only the 3.5L got the max towing capability.

The numbers posted above are right. Anything else you are putting yourself and others at risk. If you want to tow more, get a different vehicle that is capable.

I might add a full tank of gas also deducts from you total towing capacity. Everything as far a Gross weight is calculated with an empty fuel tank and empty tow vehicle.

I have a 30ft that I tow with a truck and anti sway bars and load bearing hitch with 1100lbs of weight on the hitch. This is just a small car towing a small trailer. Imagine the results with an even bigger set up! http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=6e0_1461472327&comments=1&safe_mode=off&use_old_player=1

U don’t want to buy a reese hitch. Instead buy curt

My reason for not buying reese is because they moved all their manufacturing to Mexico. Only American made hitch company is curt.
