I just ordered a bumper and winch. How difficult are they to install? I mean, I’m no mechanic… but I have basic tools.

Ah not the same bumper I have on my sport. Is yours a recon? Very nice looking Jeep you’ve got there

Thank You. It’s a Hard Rock

That bumper was originally in an anniversary version of the Rubicon. Even as take-offs, they really hold their value

I’ve seen plentiful of them mounted on a sport bumper. Greatly reduces the airflow to your radiator but I’ve see it done .

This is what worries me, from pictures it seems to cover up a lot of the grille.

I have a stock sport bumper with a winch mounted on top with a cover. I’m not in super hot weather but no change in temp with the winch and cover blocking the grill. I also have grille inserts.

Are you monitoring your temps with a programmer or dedicated gauge or just the one on the dash? I think the one on the dash is about +/- 15 degrees so you may be running hotter even though everything seems normal. I wheel in 130 degree weather so I’m a little more anal about my temps.

I saw one somewhere, guy put a between the frame winch mount on, put the winch on, then cut for the fair lead. Looked pretty awesome and was out of the way of the grill

I have mounted on my jeep. Look on the frame should be a slot on each side that’s. where the winch plate goes . The ones you see in the jeep catalogs won’t fit

Not yet but I’ll let everyone know when it does, lol it’s hit or miss from what I’ve gathered from the forums.

It also depends on your environment and terrain. Here in Phoenix, AZ there is about 80% chance you will run with elevated temperatures in the summer time crawling uphill.

Yeah not much worry of that in Seattle, but the trails in eastern Washington can be pure desert.

Rockhard mounting plate on stock 2015 jk bumper. Didn’t have to drill a single hole. They were already there in the frame from the factory.

Even had room to drill two holes in the top of the plate to mount the two driving lights so a light bracket wasn’t even needed.

It’s not stock bumper but I run grill inserts and the winch blocks some air I’ve not had any heat issues so don’t let that scare you
