@Landon can your fab guy make the strut spacers in 3/8″? I know there would be a few to purchase a pair including me and @Corey

1
Landon

I’ll ask. The only annoying part would be having to pull it off my jeep to get bolt pattern.

0
JimmyQuestion author

I have a set of jba I could mail you that are 1/4″. I doubt the turnaround would be in time for the meet though. Still something I’d want

0
Landon

Actually I got the top of a strut I could use. I know I could defiantly bring them to the meet. If u want hem quick shipping will just be more. I texted him may be tomorrow though. I know they can cut 3/8 and if I can get the strut mount they probably can scan it and it should be easy.

0
JimmyQuestion author

If you can I’d love a pair. Shouldn’t be hard.

Nope not with a laser haha.

0
Landon

They can powder coat it and everything if u want.

0
JimmyQuestion author

We’ll see what you can do and let me know. I’ve reached out to some locals, but if you can get it done sooner I’d rather work with someone from this page. It’s up to you or @Adam ?

0
JimmyQuestion author

No need for powder coat, it’s something you don’t see at all, I’ll hit it with a coat of paint before install

0
Landon

Alright I’ll see if they can get t done quick. And if they can I’ll get them the mount tomorrow. And give you the email of there sales to get everything else finished up.

0
JimmyQuestion author

Let me know. For reference, the 1/4″ plates are $30 so……..

0
Corey

I’ll buy a set as well

0
Jose

@Jimmy how much increase does the 1/4 get you?

0
Matt

I have full factory skid, 4x guard and superlift engine skid

JimmyQuestion author

Yeah but I doubt you could answer if the 4xguard belly and engine would sag the front. I don’t even know what they weigh.

0
Matt

A bunch, lol

1
Matt

No I have so much extra weight I couldn’t tell you what made me sag

0
Ryan

Yea I have both too as well as matrix there heavy as fuck

0
JimmyQuestion author

But you didn’t notice a Change in height?

0
Dick

They aren’t that heavy where they are gonna cause droop in the front end. I have a 4x skid and belly guard, and mopar steel engine guard.

0
JimmyQuestion author

Thanks @Dick I might still upgrade my front suspension. I also have a steel bumper and winch. Have the factory rake which I hate

0
Dick

I just have a rc lift with some home brew spacers and bilstiens up front, and rro uca’s.
Yeah, you got some extra weight for sure, but then skids ain’t gonna make much difference at all.

0
JimmyQuestion author

Idk that’s a lot of weight. Are you speaking from experience? I have a modified ome up front. Steel bumper, winch, and rock sliders already. Each slider was 50lbs a pc. I imagine these skids are not light!

0
Dick

I have TSA sliders on mine also, I have equal spacing between wheel well and tire front and back. Compare standing on the front of your bumper vs leaning on it with your arms, gonna take a shit load more weight then those skids to cause any significant sag.

0
JimmyQuestion author

I understand how much weight it really takes to sag the front. I stood on my bumper before and after. But I’m having so many additions I didn’t know. Didn’t know if belly
Skid would distribute between front and rear or just front. I know the engine skid will add to front. So I assume that’s at-least an extra 100lbs to the front suspension.

0
JimmyQuestion author

@Dick what is your setup? Bumper/winch/suspension

0
JimmyQuestion author

What? 50lbs a pc? @Ryan

0
Dick

No winch but full matrix setup in the front

0
Dick

That belly skid sits more in the middle of the jeep than it does up front, so that weight would be spread out more to the body, vs just the front

0
Mike

I’ve got the 4XGuard belly, engine & front guard. The belly guard weight is more centered under the Jeep, but between the engine and front guard there’s probably 100-120 lbs up front. There’s some sag up front, but it’s minimal and that may be due to my front shocks (which are pretty worn out).

Corey

4xG front guard is very heavy. I removed it due to installing bumper but I have belly guard and then all OEM Mopar steel skids

Corey

My concern with new bumper is the exposed lines where the front guard used to cover. I may try to get something fabricated.

Michael

Yeah, i had the front guard before the wam bumper and I dislike also how the hoses are exposed when they weren’t before

1
Corey

It’s a small space so I wonder if @WAM would make an attachment that maybe uses bolts from OEM suspension skid. I just don’t know where we could attach it on the other end I’d have to look. @Will @Jimmy

1
Will

You just bolt to the rad support like the bumper does or not attach the front end at all. I had a custom one made that mimiced the original except extended out further, and turned up. But I’m sure if I had taken more time to measure, I could have had a return that would bolt to rad support

1
Corey

Did you just have a local shop make it?

A friend. For free lol

0
Corey

The bottom of the WAM bumper is attached to cross member

0
Corey

Lol nice. I think I can figure something out.

0
Will

I didn’t have this part

No photo description available.
0
Will

I took the original plastic skid, and just traced it out, then added 6″ to the front, and bent up 4″.

0
Will

I still have the skid actually. It never really stayed on the Jeep because of the work I kept having to do in the front end.

0
Corey

Lol are you going to use it? If not I’ll buy it. If yes, I’ll see if my father in law can make one since he has a metal bender etc.

0
Will

Yeah you can have it but like I said there’s no attachment point on the front edge because I didn’t return the skid toward the radiator support. The other thing is it’s only 1/8″ metal so it’s moderate protection but it ain’t 3/16

0
Will

Plan was to weld a backbone to it similar to the JB a skid but that just never happened like most of the things I plan to do.

1
Corey

That’s fine it’s better then nothing. You attached it to cross member just not radiator support?

0
Will

Yeah, same exact mounting points as oem

0
Corey

Makes sense. If you want you can send same time as decals and I’ll pay whatever you want.

0
Will

Lol, I’d have to figure out how to ship it. I think it’s just a good reason to come to the meet instead ? @Jimmy

1
Corey

Lol!

0
Will

How does the 4xguard attach?

0
Michael

To the sway bar bushings mount, and then to the radiator support

0
Corey

What he said ^^

0
Will

Is it just that the bolts aren’t long enough to pass through the 4xguard and bumper?

0
Will

Or it just won’t fit

0
Michael

The brackets itself where it attaches to the radiator support it wouldn’t fit

1
Michael

Now if the bracket arms were shorter

0
Will

Cut it up.lol

0
Will

Or make a bracket

Michael

0
Corey

I’d rather save the weight lol that thing is heavy!

0
Michael

But the angle also would bad because of bumper

1
JimmyQuestion author

I was asking about the engine guard not front guard

0
Corey

The OEM suspension skid?

0
JimmyQuestion author

2
Corey

I have Mopar OEM steel suspension skid. That picture is not the same as that

0
Michael

Yes jimmy but we changed the subject to wishing Wam would cover the hoses like the front guard

0
Adam

What are you doing with the front guard @Corey ?

Corey

Selling it I guess lol I know someone messaged me awhile back before I got bumper. Why you need one? Don’t you have one?

Not heavy? You hit your head today? Lol

0
JimmyQuestion author

Lol 49lbs. Not bad. But what I’m worried more about is the engine skid. It’s not listed the weight.

0
Will

Do you even lift bro ?
