Never done a remote start installation before and I installed the KB Voodoo in about an hour last year. Works great. Heard 12v solutions has a plug and play one for $220ish

Would need some wiring knowledge to do the KB Voodoo kit!! Otherwise get the plug and play kit from 12 volt solutions

It’s really not hard. There are some really great write ups on the Tacoma world forum with excellent pics. I used posi-tap connectors and they made it ridiculously easy.

Soldering is a skill worth learning. It makes projects like these far less intimidating, and gives you the best connections. Especially for things like aftermarket radio harness to Toyota adapter harness connections (never use bladed push on splices). If you like your connection you should solder your connection.

Really not that hard to do

Just takes a little practice and proper technique to do it well. But once you learn how to do it well you don’t forget.

Anyone can do a poor prep and/or a cold joint. I see it a lot in poor quality electronic devices, and often a little remelt and reflow of the solder can correct the issue. This was common on the 2nd gens that had compass/thermometer display problems, among other things.

Gotta get the wire hot . solder does the rest

As long as the wires are clean and free of oxides. Flux only does so much to overcome that.

Friend with a 4Runner tried to do this and said it was way over his head. He went professional.

Update on the KB VooDoo system? So I installed this system yesterday and really is not that hard to do. The wires are kind of a pain to get too but not impossible the instructions are pretty good but the pictures are kind of small and can be hard to decipher but just take your time and verify each wire and all should be good!
