Anyone have advice to get more than 250 miles on a single tank of gas? I’m averaging like 18 mpg

that seems a little low… do you have the FD2? if not what engine and trans do you have? 4×4?
I have a 2.4 FWD with the 6 speed auto
Me too seems like I get around 250 to 280 per tank
How far can you get before the light comes on? I’ve never seen my gas light but I get 250 before I fill up.
I get like 225 2.0 fwd cvt
Thats what I drive. Why so low?
Idk it sucks but I don’t drive high way at all I have no need too but when I went on a trip I got like 375
Probably because it’s not highway. I drive mostly highway.
I do highway an get 24 in my riot, my husband had a Ren an gets 30
I have a 2.0 gas cvt fwd I get between 250-280 mostly high way….the winter it sucks……I calculate 25-26 in winter 26-28 in summer
I can top off with my fwb cvt drive from where I live and get about 230 miles all highway
Drive in a high gear.. don’t accelerate sharply.. etc
Best ive done is 325 on a tank of fuel
I average 240-250 miles per tank. And that’s with a bull bar, four pod lights, a rack and tire on the roof. So I have quite a bit of wind resistance working against me. Just try to keep the RPM’s low and coast downhill when you can.
A lot of stop and go driving?
In getting 14-16 but I’m treating it like a jeep so I’m happy!!!!
Trade in for a prius! ?
That was my next statement you don’t buy a jeep for the gas mileage
@Carlos believe me I feel like doing that. Filling up every 2 days got really old really quick
It’s a 2.4, I thought it wouldn’t be that bad in fuel economy, lol
It’s to small if an engine for the weight of it was a 6 we would get way better mpg
let’s be real everyone… fuel economy played a part in a lot of us deciding to buy the Patriot… the whole “don’t buy a jeep for fuel economy” doesn’t really apply to our vehicles… a 2wd 2.4 should get decent mileage… I’m guessing its just that you’re doing mostly city driving… I average between 280 and 320 miles per tank with my 2.4L 6speed auto 4×4
I lost about 2 miles a gallon when I changed my rims and tires. I was averaging 23ish with the stock 16″ combo as soon as I changed to the heavy 16×8 Jeep Moab rims and 235/70/16’s A/T’s I get about 21 miles a gallon. But my lifted Explorer was averaging 12 miles a gallon so I’m happy
I average 300 miles on the nose just about every time the gas light comes on. Mix of highway and street daily (08 2.4L 5-speed manual).
On hwy I get 300 before I fill up. Stop and go, between 250 and 275 ish I think.
I average about 23.5 mpg, mostly in town driving. Everything is stock, 2.4, 4×4, 6 speed automatic. I just drive normally (for me) keep the rpms down and work with traffic flow not using brakes unless necessary. LOL, I still get wherever I am going within a few seconds of the guy who always blasts off from the light. Haven’t taken it on a road trip yet to check the mileage nor run it down to the light, so fill up around 230 miles.
Sport 4×4 2.4L 6 spd I get 310 a tank on avg. I do a combo of hwy and city driving. I’m out in the rural area where there are not too many lights so my mileage stays higher than normal city driving. I only dip down around 280 when I’m in town or get bad gas.
WOW!! thats 4000 + miles per tank!!!! LOL
haha sorry.. that is per tank not mpg
@Michael I know, but was too good to pass up!!! 😀
I’m getting high 24 mpg…
With my bigger tires and pod lights and crossbars on my 11 fwd 2.4 cvt on my road trip I got about 25.5mpg
Mines completely stock… and I get if I’m lucky 230 miles a tank…. this little Jeep is not good with gas.
Same, mines completely stock. It’s downright terrible
I bought my 2wd patriot for the good fuel economy….I get 25-26 in the winter 27-28 in the summer….I do wish the tank were bigger though…..key is keep the speed below 75mph
I get 240-267 miles to the tank when the low fuel light screams at me. ’15 2.4 4wd. Tyres are crappy oem Affinity. Yakima round bars for a little drag. Highway city mix (with bias towards the latter).
Light weight wheels and tires are the best thing for that.
18? In my 2011 f150 im getting 14.2 with a cap, bed slider, extension ladder and tools
Cruise?
Looks like just over 23mpg, mixed but more freeway driving.
One does buy a Jeep for the MPGs. I don’t even track it.
2.57 a gallon. Ouch
Yup, and that’s the cheaper SAMs club price. The price of living in LosAngeles.
Yikes R Us!!!
I get 8 mpg in my Daily… 2016 Freightliner Cascadia Evolution 68″ Double Bunk with DD15 Detroit and Eaton 10sp.
I’m getting 27.5 mpg average. I try to never let the low fuel light come on. The app I’m using says I usually fill up around 268 miles, which would be a 1/4 tank left. 2015 2.4 FWD 6 speed.
This is the app I use lol – most on a tank so far is 322.5 miles… Best mpg so far is 27.2mpg (2016 2.4 4×4 6auto)
My 2015 cvt 2.0 give me around 30pg…but I paid between $2.75 to $4.00 or more in California when the gas price increase.
@Joe, I wish I got that in my 2.0 cvt… ever since the lift, 30″ tires, basket, and light bars, I’m at 22.5 on a good day.
Looks good…yes… this is one of the problem…big tires and beavy equipment…I only install a hitch and the roof basket but I add more air to the tires….hahaha.
I like bigger tires but I talked a lot with a guy in a Goodyear dealer and he said he don’t recommend big tires for my car because the engine is small and early or late going to burn the engine because going to be too heavy…so I’m going to change later…but only for the Goodyear SA.
My best was 370 and that was all highway. Average is 315 for me. 2015 FWD 2.0
I have the same Jeep …. but mine gets poop…..
Manual or auto. Mine is manual
Mines auto…. I think mine is just a lemon car….. sucks in all ways possible except it has nice AC… for the ppl in front!
A good alignment will also help.
Is your jeep stock?
I get 350 stock no lift, but running 55-60 mph. Lift & 30’s I’m at 290 per tank.
The biggest thing is keeping it at or under 70 mph. When you go over that mileage goes into the toilet really fast! My sweet spot is 65 to 70.
@Fabian TRADUCIME LOS VALORES EN KM Y LITROS! ASI PUEDO COMPARAR! 😉
