Before you ask why. USPS around here doesn’t give out trucks to the carriers and requires the use of personal vehicles. Would be easier with right hand drive lol

You may be able to get the parts from Japan.

Looks like a lot is involved. Including replacing the firewall, dash, pedals, etc.

If you buy a voltz with no drivetrain, or even cut at the b pillar you can get the parts necessary to rhd swap yours. Honda guys do this fairly often

Yup lots of spot welds and panels involved to get at the 3 or 4 necessary to swap

ok scratch that idea then. I was hoping there was a kit like the blazer has that basically ties into the original steering and such.

The kit im thinking of a lot of driving instructors have where it leaves the original equipment alone and adds a whole new set on the passanger side.

That kit for the 03-08 Corolla may work.

Cost a bit more, but you could always import a Voltz.

Nope, not approved for import

Seriously? Why not? Wouldn’t it have the same safety features as Vibe? Couldn’t it not be made to conform with Vibe parts?

Grandfather clause prevents such

25 yr import rule. Even though it was built here, it was made to “Japanese specs” and therefore not legal here. Maybe if they get a chance to change the EPA rules to something like what Canada has, then it could be imported sooner.

A grandfather clause is where something can remain legal, even though the laws have been changed to outlaw it currently. Hopefully that would be the case if for example the age is dropped to 15 yrs, you import a car, and then a later Democrat changes it back to 25 yrs. But I wouldn’t count on that. They would want all the “illegal imports” to be crushed or sent back home!!! 😀

Look online. Might be cheaper to buy an already converted vehicle

Ah, a fellow mail carrier. I use my vibe just the way it is. I can get a lot of shit aka mail, flats and parcels in there. I had thought about the same thing but decided not to. I get by just the way it is. I sit directly in the passenger seat. i didn’t even have to remove the center console.

Not a carrier yet but I’ve been keeping an eye on the listing and waiting. I had to turn down the job once because they didn’t have mail trucks. Console in prius is rather large lol. Now I have the vibe though.

the vibe does great. sapce is good. the gas mileage is good. my regular route is like 50 miles long and i use only 1/4 tank of gas. a little more if I have to stop more like with door2door mailings like car dealership sale ads. my office in NC all the carriers have POVs only the city carriers have the mail trucks. I know in some bigger offices like in Greenville NC i tink depending on the route you can use your own or a mail truck. For me I prefer using my own. I have driven those mail trucks and I despise them. in the summer, they are ovens on wheels. Them bitches get hot, no AC just some PoS metal fan. also no radio, i needs my radio. The bonus of using our own vehicle is we get EMA allowance. which is a big difference in one’s paycheck. i think it is currently like .70 cents per mile that we get reimibursed for using our own.

I love working for the postal service. keep looking and waiting you’ll get in. I’ve seen some carriers use a prius to carry mail. I don’t see the worth in one as a mail vehicle. To me the space is not there especially now that the USPS has the deal with amazon. The big ass packages UPS use to get USPS gets them now. I can take a picture of what mine looks like loaded up if ya would like to see.

I used to work for ups and I remember we used to have to stop at the post office to unload our smaller packages and pick up usps big packages. How do you reach the pedals while sitting on the passenger side?

The vibe sure does have enough cargo space for it.

did you ever get a picture of your vibe loaded and ready to go?
