Any pros and cons about the 2011 edges and up ? I have a 2007 edge, looking to upgrade now to the newer ones.

@Ryan
I bought a 13 Sport in July and wish I’d never bought any other vehicle besides an Edge. Zero complaints here obviously ?
I live in PA, close to the MD line. So snow is a big issue. Do you live in an area that you can base it off of?
In any other year in Indiana I could give you my opinion on it in ice and snow but not this year so far. I’m actually looking forward to the first snow so I can try it out. There’s several on here that can help you with snow reports tho.
My 07 sucked in rain and ice, it was AWD all the time.
Weird. My 07 FWD rules in the snow.
It’s been having problems a month after I bought it. I should have done more research on our year before I traded my car in
Maybe you need new tires? I could do 80 on wet highway with no problems.
I’m not all about speed. I got new tires installed when I bought the cars because of my kids I didn’t want the one that were showing wires on it! Lol I do go over 65-70 in my car
Mine is AWD and hasn’t given me any issues in rain. One time on ice on an overpass at low speed but ice is ice…
Right, always slide almost in ice no matter what.
Ice is tricky, doesn’t matter what you drive most times. I’ve been called a gymnast a few times just trying to walk across my driveway.
We’ve had our 2011 for about 50 days. Only complaint is mileage averaging about 21 or 22 mpg. with a 3.5. My hubby’s Buick, 3.8, is getting 24 or 24 in town! Both are 6 cyl. Otherwise love love love my Pretty Girl.
:/ I’m averaging 15-17mpg in my 2015 3.5L, and that’s driving as conservatively as humanly possible. It’s killing me.
I’m getting between 17 and 18 and a half driving City and a little freeway, but when we take road trips it sure does go up up up up
I’ve gotten as much as 28 on road trips. But on my 3.5 mile commute during the week I’m averaging about 15. Oy…
2017 king ranch is nice
The 6.7?
Pull the trigger @Nicole
Thinking in the start of the new year a 2017 sel or Sport
Just get a sport and call it done girl!!
I vote Sport as well!!
I’m between 16-19 on my 2007 for gas mileage. Personally the only reason I’m going to trade in my car is because I’m getting torque converter shutter. It will shake between 35-45mph(Rpms don’t matter), it sometimes sounds like it’s slams into reverse, it will jerk into gear while driving. Between my Cummins and my Edge, I love my edge the most, that’s why I want a newer one!
Sounds like tss/OSS sensors
That’s what I was thinking when I spoke with my mechanic. But the effed up part of this situation is, my boss had an 08 had 4 different trans put in! Replaced the sensors the first time all hell broke loose
Others have had same issue and successfully changed sensors with no troubles
I have a 13 limited…. had a big snow storm yesterday on Christmas, drove through 8 inches of snow,. Where it was not plowed and ice and slushy roads and it did amazing. But then again I have all wheel drive, and as I saw car after car getting stuck in driveways and in dips in the road I just kept thinking man I’m happy to have all wheel drive
Had my 13 SEL for 18 months now. 33K miles. Other than one failed blend motor it’s been flawless. Best car I have ever had.
What do you mean by “Blend” motor? Sorry kinda new to the Edge world & haven’t posted much on here!
Oh! Sorry. All cars have it with auto temp control. It adjusts the door that changes it from heat to a/c. Under the dash.
Hahahah! That makes SO much more sense, never heard of it called that.
So much simpler when the dash levers actually connected to door.
Our 12 limited plows thru the Wisconsin snow like no one’s business. Even with aftermarket wheels and tires that probably belong on dry pavement. The AWD is amazing, but mileage isn’t the best in winter.
The 2011 plus Edge FWD 3.5 is excellent in the snow with snow tires. Factor in increased expense and maintenance. The FWD with additional snow tires amounts to a less expensive Edge. Durability of the 3.5 and the 6F50 transmission have proven reliable with decent 23+ mpg on hwy. The 3.7 is not much different as far as reliability. AWD will require fluid changes about every 10-20k miles, but it does not have a drain hole so you will have to modify the PTU or remove the fluid via suction pump.. rear brakes if not maintained tend to wear unevenly. Overall with two current 2011’s with a total of over 260,000 miles and a past 2008 with over 285,000 miles the 2011’s are a great upgrade in reliability overall.
This is AWESOME feed back! Thank you. My Edge now has 128k on the motor and trans, and I think the tranny is about to kiss me goodbye.
@Nicole The sensors are most likely the issue and for 700 bucks it will run great again.
My friend who ones a shop, specializes in Ford said it most likely won’t fix the problem with it. Due to the fact if the torque converter is already shaking, banging into gear (reverse) and it will bang when driving. Shakes between 25-45, it lags a lot. I think my car hates me
Owns*** lmao not one
@Nicole sounds like the sensors have been bad for awhile if that type of damage has occured.
I must have bought it like this, cause I got it honestly back in May(2016) in the beginning of the month. It took me 10 days after the deadline I could take it back started the converter shudder. My boyfriend says it’s a “normal” Ford thing, but he doesn’t drive it every day and hear the god awful loud noise it makes. I bought it straight from a dealership too
That is too bad. Best thing to do with a new used Edge is to change every fluid in it when you buy it. This is pretty much the same for every used car.
I was told by my mechanic if I do they too it would make it worse since the trans is already used to it. I would have never bought it if I had a problem. I would have bought a new one ???
I will reserve my thoughts on their statement. Just to say unless the can prove the trans is physically damaged many have replaced the sensors with great results. Note if you paid for a diagnostic sskfor the physical data and reports that back up their statement. It is your right as a consumer.
We asked for the car fax. It said it was clean. I’m the 4th owner of it.
I am speaking to the mechanics Diagnostics of your transmission
Keep in mind I am not saying that your transmission is not physically damaged but have the mechanics prove that it is physically damaged a remanufactured transmission will cost about $2,500 plus labor
I don’t have the money for a new trans, out of pocket.
Sorry to hear that sort of in a pickle at this point then
It’s either since I owe only 5k on my car now, I paid most of it down from savings and such, trade it in on a new car. I was told I’d get 6k for it from the dealership I bought it from. I saved a lot to get my favorite car and I’m disappointed I got stuck in this pickle
I will say the 2009 and 2010 Edge have gotten rid of most of the issues you are dealing with with your head so if you can find an edge in that model year you will find a fairly decent Edge but have the transmission checked for shift lag and other things on diagnostics prior to purchase and then changed every single fluid in the edge you buy
Pardon the spelling errors I am using voice to text
You’ve been the most helpful so far, thank you so everything!
You are welcome
Don’t forget to jump over to Mac T Ford Edge on Facebook that is where you can find me
