Rev3 turbo but has Rev 2 engine .. just done a engine change head gasket had gone on the old engine had a Rev 2 fitted hence why I sourced another one, 550cc injectors fitted
The car is over fuelling quite a lot used about quarter of a tank to do about 12-15 miles .. it’s even black smoking
Have a set of standard injectors to fit (tomorrow’s job depending on what you guys think) But the car had these 550 injectors fitted before so I just swapped over the rail and job lot thought it’ll be fine
So would I be right in thinking it doesn’t matter if bigger injectors are fitted as the same amount of fuel will be sent to them until it’s remapped for these injectors ?
So this then leads me to think isit maf sensor ?
If you put your foot flat to floor it just pops bangs nothing really happens .. To get the car to actually have some power you have to gently apply the throttle until it reaches 5k then all the power is there
I’m sure it would over fuel with those injectors in rev 2 use 440s, the ecu and maf modulate the Fuel air ratio ?
The car does not know what size injectors you have. It assumes 440s. You fit 540s and you’ll massively overfuel. At every load and rpm.
The rev3 fuel rail doesn’t fit a rev2 head, so what exactly have you swapped?
Yeah I have a set of 440s ready to fit tomorrow, it had already been swapped to a Rev 2 when I bought it (the engine) .. So it was just swapping Rev 2 fuel rail with 550s to the new rev2 engine
Ok makes more sense.
Yes definitely swap to 440s until you have a proper mappable ecu to run 540s.
Okies cheers dude I’ll swap them over tomorrow and take it out tomorrow see if that was the problem hope so 🙂
Changed Injectors yesterday took it a drive today .. no difference .. should the turbo actuator move (open/close) when the car is revved at a stand still ?
Guessing the injectors have sorted the black smoke issue and over fueling but .. it’s not boosting under load, the actuator rod doesn’t move atall when the car is revved
It shouldn’t move when revved. You can’t create enough load for much positive boost. Maybe 1-2psi max.
It takes the stock actuator 7psi to move/open.
Ahhh okies max boost I’ve seen on gauge is about 5.6 psi, think I’ll change the HT leads next then plugs
