Make sure the cylinders you are doing are st peak. That bad boy falls through good luck lol. I’m sure somewhere on the Internet they make them universal

Did this on my CRX. Engine must be cold. Removed all spark plugs. Fed a rope into the spark plug hole. Do one cylinder at a time. Keep some of it hanging out for removal. Turn the crankshaft so rope will fill combustion chamber and keep valve from dropping. Used a spring compressor to release tension and remove keeper. It worked well on the CRX.

@Ronald I did this but I used a socket to push the springs down , the keepers stay in the socket. Then remove the seal and put the new one in then take another socket about the same size , pack it with paper towels as much as you can pack in there. Then push the new keepers in place.

Could use pressurized air to keep the valves in.
Just remove the sparkplug and fit a compressiontester, just modify it so you can push air in, and then hold it there. Would most likely need a constant supply og air tho

@Emil this is the way I’ve done in the past e.g. my DSM just need to tool to compress valves. Internet search returned nothing. A guy on YouTube made his own.

But if the seal is leaking, good luck keeping air in the cylinder even when closed

Tyler

@Josh stem seal leaking doesn’t mean the valve doesn’t close.

Yes. I’ve done it many times

I do it with leakdown tester.but make sure there isnt significant leak down. And make sure it’s at top of stroke or the air will force motor to turn over and still drop valve

It’s hard to is the tool , well on the turbo it was because of the angle of the engine.

One of these lambda sensore sockets…. A sliding tbar, and a d shackle on a dynamo bolt.
Fit the dynamo bolt into the head where the cam cover sits or cam shaft carrier bolt. Hole.
Attach the d shackle,
Stick one end of the sliding tbar into the shackle and use it as a fulcrum to depress the valve with the socket.

Make sure u remove ur spark plugs, push some string into the cylinder then turn it to tdc. Just make sure u leave enough strigg outside of the spark plug hole ffs tho ?

You can use the normal punch kind but you gotta make sure the valves are at tdc for the one you are working on and put rope down in the cylinder so the valve doesnt fall down into the cylinder

Lisle 32600. Thoughts?

A 5sfe is a non-interference engine so it’s going to be VERY difficult considering that the valves should never touch the piston. The only problem I see is how are you going to put the retainers on without having the valve fall in the combustion Chamber. I’m actually doing a Full 5sfe rebuild right now and I guarantee that it’s much easier to take the head off and do it, head gaskets also cause oil loss. I took my engine out to repaint it and all but it’s not the easiest job.

You hook up a compressor to a compression test hose and put air in the cylinder via the spark plug hole to hold the valves up

I’ve had great success with the Toyotool
