2011 lt 2.4l Had it since 2013 and no matter how I drive, it consistently gets 22 mpg. Why?

Same!! I’ve tried it all…keeping air in tires to manufacturers specs, staying under 2500 rpm, maintenance on time always etc. MPG still sucks ass
@Brandi I have the same car and its sucks done more gas then my V8 truck
@Michael I commute everyday round trip about 90 minutes x 5 days a week. Dont drive much beyond that and I have to fill up every week. Add that to the fact that I live in Cali and our fucking gas is almost $4 a gallon…I’m dying
I get 20 in mine so I’d be happy with that
@Jason my wifes is the same.
I had my 17 for 2 years and never got it above 22?♂️
Change o2 sensors and put it in eco mode. Temp and fuel quality will also contribute. If you are going off of the mpg readout on the dash, the can be off considerably.
Why? Physics. Small engine,big vehicle.
The 2.4 is just too small and underpowered engine for the size and weight of a Equinox.
Even the new ones don’t do so well. They are advertised as fuel efficienct. Sure is opposite
I can’t speak for the 1.5L, but I have an 18 awd 2.0L and it averages 29mpg everywhere and well over 30 on highway trips. The new ones do awesome and my 2.0 will out run the older 6 cylinders
The only way to get a truly fuel efficient nox is to get the diesel option. The 2.4 is small for a vehicle that size.
My 2011 2.4L gets 20MPG on a good week…. sometimes the average is closer to 16MPG
Both of ours get mid to upper 20s easy. I can get 35ish on my route to work
Mine (11 2.4) only got 16mpg so I decided to go with a different vehicle.
