Trade it in, buy a 5.0 Stang and put $500 down payment on it.

Put the $500 towards a Powerful sound system and get ready for more time on the road by reducing speed(Fuel Economy).
He could point the speakers towards the rear, more thrust and better mileage!
Racing stripes.
down payment on a prius
Inflate tires to 37psi, and turn off trailer sway if you have it in your truck. I get 18.5 around town in my 14 Stx. And you have to turn off trailer sway everyone you turn on the truck. It defaults to on
Turning off sway control does make a difference.
Huge difference. Annoying that you can’t default it to off however. It’s tied into the traction control system so federally, it’s not allowed to default to off.
@Tom so I have to turn it off Everytime I start the truck?
Yes unfortunately, but if you get in the habit of doing it it is not a big deal. But it does make a huge difference in performance and mpg.
How much do you pay for fuel?
How much increase in mpg fo you want?
$2.89 and maybe increase my mpg from 16 to 20! Is that unrealistic?
For a $500 investment and a 4 mpg increase, you would break even after driving 13,841 miles.
And asking for a 25% increase is huge
4mpg is insane. Even diesel that get more noticible gains don’t get on that level
Maybe a tuner
Spend it on a used Honda Civic
Twin turbos
Call me crazy, but I don’t drive a truck for fuel mileage.
I’ve got a 2012 5.0 supercrew, rolling 35s, and i get maybe 12mpg around town and 15mpg on the highway. I’m not complaining one bit. If i want better mileage, I’ll buy another car, and keep my damn truck
Agreed.
Nothing wrong with wanting better had millage guys. I just keep my rig well maintained keep the pressure on my tires up. I have two sets of tires; one for everyday driving and a more aggressive tire for looks. Good luck
For $500 to get better mpg i would look at a set of short tube headers, i just ordered myself a set yesterday for my 03 4.6 for that reason and the smother running/more power

2015 f150 3.5 ecoboost, I get about 16.8 and I spend a lot of time on highway…
I get 16 in my 2010 5.4.
Tuners don’t really do that much for naturally aspirated gas engines. Shoulda bought a Ecoboost.
my wifes 4×4 expedition EL gets and average of 18.. just took on a 500 round trip and averaged 19.6… its a3.5

@Billy
Use the $500 dollars on a down payment for a car that gets 22 mpg problem solved
High performance wiper fluid, got it in my civic, works great!
Get a better air filter. Keep tires inflated Use Chevron gasoline and don’t speed and keep the idling down. Get a bed cover I hear that can increase mpg… That’s my best advice.
